surgeons and straitjackets! surgeons and straitjackets is a new mentoring reminiscent program offered on amputations. it's for users who would like to refine any certain skill or have a little help with getting used to a new genre or tense for role-playing. instead of going through a critique process, this is a hands-on approach where users get to help out each other. surgeons and straitjackets is also a good way to meet someone else on the site and get a solid role-play going.
HOW IT ALL WORKS ABOUT BECOMING A SURGEONsurgeons are the mentors in the project. if you sign up as a surgeon, you are offering to help someone in the same group as you or in a lower one with whatever you list as a strength. for example, if you are very comfortable writing in present tense and a straitjacket asks for help in that area, you'll be assigned to them. from there, you get a role-play going and discuss what your straitjacket wants to focus on in your thread (more on s&s threads later). ABOUT GETTING A STRAITJACKETgetting a straitjacket means that you're interested in refining a certain skill or even learning a new one related to writing and/or role-playing. you will be assigned to a surgeon, a mentor in the same or higher group than yours, and they will help you out with whatever it is you wanted to work on through role-playing and possibly critique given in your s&s thread. S&S THREADSs&s threads are very similar to threads found in the "plotting and discussion" forum. you will discuss with your partner what kind of role-play you want to do, exchange contacts, and decide on how you want to go about working on whatever skill you are focusing on. you may decide to post occasional critiques in your thread or do it over im or do something even less formal that doesn't involve critique at all. it's all up to you and what you think will work best. for clarification, s&s threads can be posted in this forum. you post your own thread, so you don't need to wait around for the staff to do it. APPLYING you may apply as both a surgeon or a straitjacket. please try to see what other people are looking for and/or offering when you make your application. the more you list, the easier it is to pair you up with someone quickly.
